Sr. Francelle had a stroke today and is unresponsive at St. Lukes hospital in Aberdeen SD. Received the message from her niece Kathy Jo Peterson. We have been linking to Sr. Francelle’s weekly devotion each Friday since we began posting her devotions on a blog in 2008. She is a Sister of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, living at the Motherhouse in Aberdeen, SD. In 1988, I met Sr. Francelle on the Search retreat program that she led for many years. A few years later my brother Steve S. Castle met his wife Martina Castle on that same retreat program. Sr. Francelle is a living Saint…let’s keep her close in prayer in the coming days. Feel free to comment on how Sr. Francelle and her devotions have impacted your faith journey. http://sisterfrancelle.blogspot.com/

Over a year my cousin and I prayed the Divine Mercy chaplet for my alcoholic brother. When he went into the treatment center they had to take him to the ER at another hospital first because he was almost dead. It’s been several years now without a drink. He was a tough one to believe for. I will pray Divine Mercy for your brother. It’s powerful!!

    Hello friends,

The following request came from a young lady at my old college. We have little time before tomorrow, but please pray whenever your read this — Melanie and her little one will need all the prayers, current and retroactive, that they can get!

    —-

    Hey Everyone,

    Here’s the situation:
I was talking to my cousin, Kim, on the phone last night, and she told me that her co-worker, Melanie, is planning to have an abortion on Tuesday. Melanie is 19 years old, and just over two weeks pregnant. Her friends are all telling her to go ahead and have “it” taken care of, and that it’s “no big deal.” Kim’s been trying to talk her out of it… but they think she’s just pushing her Catholic morals on Melanie. Melanie doesn’t want to be fat for 9 months, even though Kim said that if Melanie would carry the baby for 9 months, Kim would carry him/her for the rest of his/her life. Melanie’s boyfriend said he would support her either way, so let’s just hope that Melanie’s concerns about her weight can be overlooked

    Your mission:
Please pray for both Kim and Melanie, and do everything in your power to help save this baby’s life.

Feel free to send this on if you think it might help…

    Elizabeth

Got a lot of prayers for you guys to help me with. First, for the soul of Suzanne Treinen, the mother of my college coach (Nate). She passed away during Thanksgiving week. May she rest in peace and may God grant her family strength and comfort. Next is Tracy Barcus, my college residence hall director, who is going to have a hystorectomy in a few weeks. Next is Cindy Tiedemann, the secretary of Bishop Nickless of Sioux City and a dear friend. Her father just passed away so may God grant his soul peace and Cindy’s family comfort. Lastly, for my coworker Tioni Brown who is experiencing some health issues possibly relating to a past miscarriage. Please pray that she makes a full and speedy recovery.

Hello Angels. Thanks for keeping your end of the deal and getting serious with the prayers. Abby came through today with flying colors. Dr. B made about five punctures on each side of her neck and injected this material to dry up the blood. This is only temporary for the big Friday surgery to dry out the area for Dr. Ghatan to do the laminectomy. Dr. Ghatan talked to us for about an hour discussing surgery. AVM is winning and we are getting against the wall. There is a good chance Abby could become a quadriplegic if we don’t try this and give spinal cord space. It cannot keep taking this abuse. The nerves are going to get damaged. Rich boo-hooed while I kept asking questions. The biggest risk here is that Abby would start bleeding during surgery and they would not be able to stop it and she would literally bleed to death. That’s a tough reality, but as her parents, along with guidance from the docs, we have to try anything we can to get her cured and keep walking. Abby has already had a taste of the limited arm and leg movement with the stroke and we just can’t see no movement being in her future. We have you all praying and supporting us and do not believe that it is part of God’s plan to take her from us. He is just making Abby jump some major hurdles right now for whatever reason. So Friday could be the biggest day of her life. Call a friend or relative and ask them to pray for our friend Abby early Friday morning. Let’s rattle the rooftops and be heard. We have got to fight this one out for this little girl. Abby will have some major recuperating after the laminectomy and Dr. Ghatan can’t estimate time or limitations until we see what happens during surgery. Dr. B said a last minute change in plans could happen when they go in. Stay positive and we will try and keep our chins up. Dr. B. told Abby himself of the plan and she took it like a mature girl. She cried only slightly that they would cut her skin. All is well in NY for now. We just played a board game of LIFE. Abby won of course. Abby will be playing a real game of LIFE on Friday with the surgery and she will win again, I just know it. Thanks for the prayers. This little girl is so precious and priceless!

Update on LIFE Runner Joanna Webster and her baby boy. Please keep her and loved ones in your prayers.

    Please see below

Well, I am now 22 1/2 weeks along and it has been very rough road.  I have been on modified bed rest for 3 weeks (initially because of heavy bleeding and now because of more heavy bleeding and contractions).  I have diagnosed with sub chorionic hematoma. The heavy bleeding can cause premature rupture of membranes and preterm labor.  The doctors are hoping for us to get to 28 weeks…unfortunately as of now, nothing can be done but rest and lots of water.  We are taking things day by day and then week by week.  We pray for 28 weeks… Survival of a 24 week baby is 50% and by 28 weeks it is 80%.  Thanks for your prayers!

His brother and sister-in-law would just like to have some kind of service and then scatter her ashes in the forest. I know that God holds Gene is His arms no matter what happens, but please keep Jim and our family in your prayers. Thank you, Maureen

Please pray for me as I am down hearted today. I will be going w/ my family to SD on Thurs morn and traveling to N. MN on Aug 5 until Aug 7 to go through my dad’s belongings. He shot and killed himself last year on July 3rd; he was in a contract for deed agreement w/ my step sister and husband. They told my dad ‘No deal!’ after the contract was signed and recorded. Dad killed himself. The step sister and husband deny that the ‘No deal’ ever happened and are going through w/ the cfd w/ my stepmom who has short term memory loss from a previous brain anerisum. To my knowledge, they still are NOT holding up to all the stipulations in the cfd….not paying around $1,200 more money each month. All this said, to ask for prayer as I go w/ my sister, who hasn’t been to the Lake where Dad died yet since his death; she was due to have her baby and wasn’t able to go to his funeral. It will be hard, but thanks be to God that Jesus will be there w/ us. My sister, Brenda is not deep w/ Jesus, if she has Him at all. My stepmom, Debbie, does have JESUS thankfully. Please pray for peace, safe travel, and opportunities to share what Jesus has done in our lives and to be of help to Debbie while we are there. Thank you so much, God bless all of you and your efforts for Christ and the Gospel, Laura :)

I am so sorry for your loss. We struggle greatly when a loved one dies at their own hands. I am asking God to comfort you. I am asking God for His provision of grace and peace to handle these circumstances. I am asking God for forgiveness and long-suffering. We may not see justice but we can display God’s love to all. Forgive them father for they know not what to do, God bless you and yours!

Peggy and Carol earlier requested prayers for my pre-born grandson… child of Kerry and Adam S. Koal has since been born (on May 4, 2011) and at one week underwent his first open heart surgery. Thanks be to God and to all of you the miracle occured and that surgery was successful. We praise God and we thank all of you but ask that prayers also continue. Koal will need a number more miracles as the next few weeks or months go by. His heart defects were far more profound than first thought during pregnancy. Although his first surgery was successful in allowing our darling boy to live, his pediatric cardiologists are presently not sure what to do next and are in consultation nationwide with other cardiologists to combine expertise. A decision on what the next open heart surgery should be is needed and prayers for that and for the surgeons who will perform it are necessary. Prayers for our little Koal are so needed…as they are for his parents, kerry and adam, and all his loving family. The first miraculous surgery was temporary only … the next will be far more serious and complicated and it is likely this baby will end up eventually needing a transplant. We pray to God, the Great Healer, to look upon this tiny life and bless him in His compassion and mercy with all that the baby needs, all the wisdom and skill of his drs, and the strength and continued faiith of Kerry and Adam and the rest of the family. Thank you all and bless all of you as well . Katie Baldwin

Her meds have gotten messed up going to several differnt doctors. And now for a day and half she has not had any of her depression medicine, which causes more stress and then messes up her blood sugar levels. They’ve already named him Koalton and I know they’d appreciate prayers from anyone willing! He’ll need surgery in the next few days and several surgeries after that. This weekend I got an up date that the girls mother has now been told and the 16 year old will be attending a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat in March. Pray that there will be enough signed up to have a retreat and the right combination of people will there to minister to the retreatants. There will be on going prayers needed for this family as the parents have to deal with their part in all this too. I also heard there are some mental illness issues in he family. More prayers are desperately needed for my great nephew, Koby! The surgeon didn’t think any more treatment would be needed, but that’s not necessarily the case. He will have more tests this week to see if the cancer is anywhere else in his body.

Pope Benedict’s general prayer intention for January 2011 is: “That young people may learn to use modern means of social communication for their personal growth and to better prepare themselves to serve society”. His mission intention is: “That every believer in Christ may be conscious that unity among all Christians is a condition for more effective proclamation of the Gospel”.

Prayers are needed for my friend Carol who is a vulnerable adult. Living situation is not good. She has an appointment on Tuesday about moving out of where she is. I will wait until after that to see what transpires to take the next step of possibly asking for a welfare check. I’ve known her and her brother all our lives we grew up together. I feel an uneasiness but also feel I can wait until Tuesday, this will give her time to self advocate which she is capable off. Thank you all for your prayers!

My stepfather was admitted to ICU on Christmas Eve and due to the terrible snowstorm that hit the area on Sunday, had no visitors Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. He has now contracted Staph Pneumonia and is not expected to live much longer. I’m asking for prayer that his daughter arrive in time to say good-bye and for strength for my mother.

Please pray for Katherine and Anders Burgman who just lost their 10 day old baby boy (Anders John). Baby “Jack” was discovered dead in his crib at 6:30 am yesterday. Despite their youth, his parents have worked in the pro-life movement for many years; she was the Executive Director of our local crisis pregnancy center. Please pray that God will give them peace and consolation during this tragic time. Thank you.

We are writing to ask for prayers for the Podraza family. Our good friend Jeff and his two, daughters (Jordyn-12 & Taylor-10) died in a tragic car accident in Nebraska on Saturday on the way to see family. Kelly, the girls’ mother and Jeff’s ex-wife, was in New York when the accident occurred. Jordyn and Taylor are her only children. Both girls attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and where in the 7th & 5th grades. As you can imagine, she is completely devastated as are Jeff’s parents as they will have to bury their only son (they have an older daughter) and their only grandchildren. Prayers are also needed for Kris, Jeff’s girlfriend, of four years. The wake for the girls was last night (Tuesday) and the funeral is today (Wednesday) in Omaha. Jeff’s wake is tonight in Columbus and the funeral will be tomorrow (Thursday). Ladd and I are just heartbroken that we cannot be there. Please say as many prayers for everyone who has been blessed to know this family. It is going to be a tough 48 hours. Thank you!

My 85-year-old father, Al C., who goes out dancing twice a week, has been hospitalized for 11 days with a collasped lung and then pneumonia. Yesterday they placed a new chest tube . The first one “didn’t work”. If this one fails, too, they may have to do surgery to attach the lung to the rib.(?) He’s a man of faith, but not churched for the last 35+ years. Thank you for your prayers. Shirley

Continued prayers requested for O’Gorman teacher Jen Leigh who has been hospitalized for more than two weeks with bacterial meningitis. She was very, very ill and is now slowly recovering, but doctors are now also concerned that an inactive brain tumor is now active, so once she recovers from the meningitis, she will need further treatment for the tumor. She is a wonderful chemistry teacher and is loved by the entire school community. Prayers are most appreciated!

      Hi Edith,
Prayers in route…lots of spiritual warfare in this situation. Also sad to see a fellow Knight so out of line with the Church and and the mission of KoC. His daughters and lost grand daughter will feel this pain for the rest of their life. The Knights have done so much to help defend Life. Last year a group led by Rich (one of our authors, co-founder) raised money to buy an ultrasound machine for a crisis pregnancy center in Florida.

      In Christ,

The doctor said its a waiting game now. God’s hand is mighty and I really belive He is revealing Himself to the mother through this. Thanks for continuing to pray!
